(Carlisle) — A man convicted in a slaying at an American Legion post in Cumberland County has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.

Forty-two-year-old Robert “Rocky” Anderson of Carlisle was convicted in February of first-degree murder in the June 2016 killing.

Cumberland County prosecutors said Anderson entered the Haines-Stackfield American Legion post in Carlisle and shot Daniel Harris eight times before fleeing.

Prosecutors said the shooting happened amid a violent feud between the families of the two men. The defense argued Anderson felt he was protecting his family. Defense attorney Heidi Eakin has vowed to appeal. reports that the defendant had only one thing to say during Tuesday’s sentencing: “I put my faith in God.”
